At the invitation of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), local government officials from the U.S. will be featured speakers and participants at the Global Investment Promotion Forum in the city of Nanning, China, this week.
The event brings together national and local political leaders along with multinational corporations from across Asia and around the world.
Attending the forum as representatives of their cities and of NLC are Larry Klein, mayor, Palo Alto, Calif.; Paul Natale, mayor, Commerce City, Colo.; and Valarie McCall, vice mayor, Cleveland. NLC has the role of facilitator and partner of the forum.
Additional events have been arranged by the host organization, including attendance at a conference on alternative energy strategies and meetings in Beijing with U.S. and Chinese national government representatives and with business executives in various industry sectors.
“NLC is pleased to support the efforts of UNIDO to establish and nurture trade and investment opportunities between U.S. and Chinese cities,” said Donald J. Borut, NLC executive director. “This kind of international engagement is a difficult but necessary task for municipal leaders who are striving to build economic prosperity in their communities.”
